Second consecutive tournament cut short for EMU due to rain

RICHMOND, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team's final round of the Colonel Classic was canceled Tuesday, April 2, due to inclement weather in the central Kentucky area. The event hosted by Eastern Kentucky University was originally scheduled for three rounds, but results following the 36 holes played Monday, April 1, are final. This is the second time in as many outings the Eagles have had their event shortened by one round due to weather.
The Colonel Classic was competed at Gibson Bay Golf Course at par 72 and 6,108 yards.
Morehead State turned in the low team score of 592 (292-300) and MSU's MacKenzie Neal was the individual medalist with her score of 144 (73-71). EMU finished in 12th place with a two-round team score of 619 (315-304).
How It Happened
Freshman Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) and junior Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario/Tommy Douglas Secondary School) finished tied for 26th with a nine-over 153. After an opening round 80, Kim rebounded to post her third-lowest 18-hole mark of the year with a 73. Meanwhile, DiMarcantonio carded her third and fourth-best rounds of 2023-24 with scores of 76 and 77, respectively.
Senior Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich./Livonia Franklin) added a 158 with a pair of 79s for 53rd place. Freshman Gabriella Tapp (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) and junior Grace Halcrow (Richmond Hill, Ontario/Bill Crothers Secondary/Simon Fraser/Glenville State) tied for 62nd with a 159.
Playing as an individual, Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) added a 173 (85-88).
