Track and Field Set for Two-Meet Weekend

The Eagles will compete at the Jim Click and Spartan Invitational
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan track and field programs will compete at two meets this week in the Jim Click Invitational and the Spartan Invitational. The Jim Click Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona, will be held at Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Ariz., April 5-6. The Spartan invitational, hosted by Michigan State University takes place at Ralph Young Field in East Lansing, Mich., April 5-6.

Last Time Out: at Raleigh Relays, March 28-30
The Eagles are coming off a strong performance in the distance and horizontal jumping events at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State University at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility in Raleigh, N.C.
» Of the eight competing Eastern women, four secured personal-best marks in their respective events. Additionally, two Eagles earned top-10 program finishes.
» The Eastern men notched five personal-best times while posting three top-10 event placings.
Paige Marchant (London, Ontario/Catholic Central) led the women's team with the highest placing of the day, a 28th place finish in the 1500m, coming in at 4:21.56, good for the eighth spot in program history, topping former Eagle Donna Donakowski who posted a 4:21.47 in 1988.
The 5000m followed next for the women where Esme Davies (Lake District, England/Queen Elizabeth Grammar School) led the Eagles in 41st place with a personal-best 16:26.15 mark, good for seventh all-time, placing herself one spot ahead of teammate Faith Rono (Eldoret, Kenya/Middle Tennessee State) who collected a 16:30.20 in the 2022 season (EMU #8). Davies time also serves as the third-fastest in the conference this season. Anita Zaro (Timisoara, Romania/Faculty of Physical Education and Sport) rounded out Eastern's competitors in the event, crossing the finish line in 16:44.76, placing 70th.
On the men's side, the 1500m race saw Linus Vennemann (Osnabrück, Lower Saxony, Germany/Gymnasium "In der Wüste") with the highest finish in the event for the Eagles, placing 72nd with a 3:49.13 mark.
Also performing in Friday's action was Eric Haddock Jr. (Raleigh, N.C./Southeast Raleigh/Appalachian State) who placed sixth in the triple jump, reaching 14.89m, a mark that stands as the farthest in the MAC thus far.
Starting the Saturday action was Tabatha Walford (Northamptonshire, England/Bishop Stopford/Nevada) in the 800m race. Her 2:11.77 mark was good for the graduate students personal-best, and was the highest placing in the event among Eastern participants. Chloie Musta (Mesick, Mich./Cadillac) crossed the finish line in 2:13.15 to place 92nd, while Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Easton Area/Rutgers) posted a 2:13.35 time for 95th.
For the men, opening the day was Haddock Jr. with the highest placing of all Eagles in the meet, a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a 7.34m leap.
Senior Marcus Kemp (Kitchener, Ontario/St. Mary's Kitchener Providence) led the charge in the 800m race taking a 10th place finish in a personal-best 1:49.63, the best time in the MAC this season. Following closely behind was fellow senior, Ronnie Brandal (Huron, Ohio/Huron), who placed 12th with a personal-best 1:49.68 time. Freshmen Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) and Lachlan Cornelius (Queensland, Australia/Anglican Church Grammar School) also had personal-best showings, finishing in 1:53.80, and 1:54.86, respectively.
