Raisa Boris named Gymnast and Senior of the Year

MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team earned a team score of 194.000, good for sixth place in the 2024 Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by MAC Regular Season Co-Champions, Ball State University Saturday, March 23, inside Worthen Arena.
Taking the title was in-state rival Western Michigan University with an overall team score of 196.525. Following behind the Broncos was the host Cardinals with a 196.475, while other MAC Regular Season Co-Champions, Kent State University, rounded out the top three with an overall 196.325 score.
Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) was named both the MAC Gymnast of the Year as well as the Senior Gymnast of the Year after an incredible senior season. The last time an Eagle was named the Gymnast of the Year and Senior Gymnast of the Year was when Jolene Worley won the both titles in the 2008 campaign. Additionally, Boris is just the fourth different Eagle to win the overall honor and the seventh to earn the Senior Gymnast title.
How It Happened
The Eagles started the day with a bye before beginning the competition on vault, scoring a 48.850. Leading the way for the Green and White was Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy), who tied for third with a 9.900. It marked the junior's third 9.900 and above score of the season and the second consecutive.
Eastern Michigan enjoyed another small break before heading to the bars as Boris' 9.800 led the team and tied for 12th overall. The team earned its second highest event total of the day with a 48.875.
The fifth rotation saw the Eagles balance the beam, scoring a 47.325. Taking the top spot among the Eagles was Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton), who scored a first-place tying 9.900.
EMU took its final bye of the day before ending the meet on the floor with a team score of 48.950. Boris' 9.850 led the way for the Eagles.
Boris was the sole all-arounder for Eastern Michigan, scoring a 39.200, good for third place in the overall event.
