YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University Eagles are set to play host to the University of Akron Zips, Wednesday, Feb. 7 inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET tip.
ON AIR
Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with a 7 p.m. tip where Ryan Wooley and Reggie Butler will have the call. Fans can also listen to the game as Tom Helmer will have the call live on WEMU Radio (89.1 FM) and the Varsity Network App. Fans can also follow the action via live stats at EMUEagles.com/livestats. INSIDE THE CONTEST
The Eagles and the Zips are slated to meet for the 49th time in program history, with Akron holding the 29-19 edge over the Green and White.
Dating back to 1982, the two teams have had their own span of dominance against the other. Akron holds the longest streak between the two with seven straight wins in a three year span (1993-96). EMU held control of the Zips for six consecutive meetings (2001-06). The Eagles have won four of the last 10 contest with two coming in Ypsilanti.
ABOUT THE ZIPS
Standing 7-13 overall and tied with EMU at 2-8 in conference play, the Zips come to Ypsilanti after falling to Miami University, 58-48, at home. The Zips earned their two conference wins over NIU, Jan. 27, and CMU, Jan. 10. A notable non-conference win was the 75-72 overtime victory over Pittsburgh, Nov. 25 in Daytona Beach, Fla. Akron currently ranks 11th in the league and is averaging 62.5 points and 37.2 rebounds per game, while allowing an average of 65.5 points and 37.3 boards per contest.

The Green and White's 2023-24 campaign marks the 43rd season Eastern Michigan will compete as a member of the Mid-American Conference. Playing a league schedule since the 1981-82 campaign, EMU has compiled a 307-409 record against conference opponents all-time.

Kennedi Myles recorded her 14th career double-double and the fourth in an Eastern jersey with her 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Bulls, Feb. 3. The last time the graduate student recorded a double-double was when she posted 16 points and 11 boards against Ohio, Jan. 20.

Kennedi Myles' season-high 17 points at Buffalo, Feb. 3, marked the seventh contest this season with double-digit points and the 32nd of her career. It topped her previous season high of 16 set at Ohio, Jan. 20. Myles has posted 16 or more points in a single contest for the third time in her career. Her career-high stands at 23 against Merrimack College, Dec. 10, 2019, as a part of the Fighting Illini.
DARA'S STARTING DEBUT
Dara Capaldi earned her second collegiate start in the game with the Bulls, Feb. 3, after doing so for the first time against WMU, Jan. 31. The Michigan native posted a personal best nine points in a career-high 31 minutes of play as well as helped on career-high four assists.
FINDING TREASURE
Treasure Thompson found herself in the starting five for the fourth time this season and just the fifth in her career at EMU after doing so at Buffalo, Feb. 3. The junior posted a season-high 17 points, marking just the second time in her career with 17 or more points in a game, three shy of her career-high 20 set against Grace Christian, Nov. 18, 2021.
THANKS FOR THE ASSISTANCE
Treasure Thompson provided three assists in the loss at UB, Feb. 3. It was the second time Thompson had posted three or more helpers in a single game this season and just the third of her career after providing her career-high seven against Grace Christian, Nov. 18, 2021.
CONSECUTIVE WESTY
Olivia Westphal drained a single three in the contest with UB, Feb. 3. The junior has recorded a single make from beyond the three in five consecutive games for the first time in her career. It was her 17th made triple as an EMU Eagle and the 23rd of her career.
SHARP-SHOOTING SMITH
Olivia Smith connected on two shots from beyond the arc in the contest versus Buffalo, Feb. 3. It was the 16th contest this season in which Smith has made a single three-pointer. Last season, the then-rookie led the team in triples recording a single make in 25 total games. Her longest streak of consecutive games with a made triple was 13 (Dec. 17, 2022- Feb. 1, 2023).
TRACKING TAYRA
After her five rebounds against the Bulls, Feb. 3, Tayra Eke sits just 67 boards away from her career milestone 500. Additionally, the junior is just 12 blocks away from her career milestone 150.
THE BLOCKING BATTLE
EMU won the blocking-battle against the Bulls, 2-0. It was the 10th time this season the Eagles have out-blocked their opponent. Last season, the team recorded more blocks than its foe in 19 contests.
