Goal total ties for the most in a single game in the NCAA this year
DOVER, Del. (EMUEagles.com) -- Mackenzie Blackwell scored a program-record and NCAA single-game-leading nine goals and the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team's defense was stout once again as the Eagles tallied an 18-6 win at Delaware State University Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Drass Field in Dover, Del. The Eagles (2-2), who have won consecutive games for the first time in program history, saw Blackwell score a hat trick in the first quarter before adding four in the second, and her final two in the fourth.
How It Happened
After the hosts jumped out a 1-0 lead, Abby Alderman (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) each scored to give EMU a 2-1 lead. But the Hornets came back with two of their own goals to make it 3-2 with 4:34 to play in the opening stanza. The Eagles responded with three more goals to close out the quarter with Blackwell adding two more and Sydney Lawrence (Plano, Texas/Plano East/Oregon) netting one to make it 5-3 at the break.
Blackwell added her fourth of the game to open the scoring in the second with the Hornets pulling one back to make it 6-4 at the 8:05 mark. That was as close as the hosts would get as the Eagles reeled off five consecutive goals to close out the half. In the run, Blackwell added three more to bring her total to seven in the game, while Avery Schwab (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin-Scioto) and Amber Alderman (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) added the other two goals to make it 11-4 at the intermission.

Despite to goals from the Hornets, Roya Khaleeli (Rancho Palo Verdes, Calif./Palos Verdes Peninsula) and Addie Pastor (Kalamazoo, Mich./Mattawan/Albion) scored to make it 15-6 heading into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, the Eagles were the only team to score as they netted three goals. Blackwell scored her eighth and ninth goals of the game before Skylar Hilmer (San Diego, Calif./Patrick Henry) closed things out for the 18-6 final.
