Women's Hoops Plays Host to Miami Wednesday

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team will continue Mid-American Conference play at home as it readies to play host to the RedHawks of Miami University Wednesday, Jan. 17, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center.
ON AIR
Wednesday's game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with a 7 p.m. tip where Ryan Wooley (play-by-play)will have the call. Fan can also listen to the game as Tom Helmer and will have the call live on WEMU Radio (89.1 FM) and the Varsity Network App. Fans can also follow the action via live stats at EMUEagles.com/livestats. Additionally, the team's official Twitter account, @EMUWBB, will provide score updates throughout the contest.

The Green and White's 2023-24 campaign marks the 43rd season Eastern Michigan will compete as a member of the Mid-American Conference. Playing a league schedule since the 1981-82 campaign, EMU has compiled a 306-404 record against conference opponents all-time.
BACK LIKE SHE NEVER LEFT
Lachelle Austin appeared in the starting lineup against the Chippewas, Jan. 13, after coming off the bench in the last six outings. The last time she was in the starting five was at North Dakota State University, Dec. 1. As a freshman, Austin started in 21 contests and then 29 as a sophomore.
SLOWLY, BUT SURELY
Lachelle Austin, who's battling a minor injury, posted 14 points in the contest against CMU, Jan. 13, for her third double-figure point production of the season and the 28th of her career. The last time the junior scored in double-digit points was when she earned a 27-piece at Lindenwood University, Dec. 1. Last season, she recorded the feat in 18 games after doing so in seven during her rookie season.
TERRIFIC TAYRA
Tayra Eke's 13 points against the Chippewas, Jan. 13, marked the sixth consecutive game with double-digit points. In addition, it was the eighth showing with 10-plus points of the season and the 21st of her career.
EKE'S MULTI-BLOCK PERFORMANCE
Tayra Eke recorded multiple blocks in the setback to CMU, Jan. 13, for the eighth time this season. Last season, the junior recorded the feat in 17 contests.
HELPFUL EAGLES
Three Eagles assisted on a bucket three times in the same contest, vs. Central Michigan, Jan. 13. Kennedi Myles provided three assists, marking the fifth time this season with three or more helpers in one game. Additionally, it was Tayra Eke's fourth season contest with three or more assists and Lachelle Austin's third.
ROOKIE IN THE STARTING FIVE
Freshman Cali Denson was in the starting lineup for the 13th consecutive game after doing so for the first time in her career in the road game at Georgia Southern University, Nov. 11. Denson continues to be the only EMU freshman this season to be in the starting five.
THE BLOCKING BATTLE
EMU won the blocking-battle against the Chippewas, 4-2. It was the fifth time this season the Eagles have out-blocked their opponent and the second consecutive after topping BGSU, Jan. 10 in blocks. Last season, the team recorded more blocks than its foe in 19 contests.
FORCING TURNOVERS
The Eagles forced 20 CMU turnovers in the setback, Jan. 13. It marked the fourth time this season in which EMU has forced 20 or more turnovers in a single game, the most being 25 against IUPUI, Dec. 15.
DOUBLE-DIGIT SHOOTERS
Eastern Michigan had three players score at least 10 points in the contest against CMU, Jan. 13. The last time EMU had three or more player's score ten or more points in the same game was in a 68-65 win over SIUE, Nov. 18.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE REDHAWKS
In their last meeting, the pair of Lachelle Austin and Ce'Nara Skanes both recorded double-doubles to help lead EMU over the RedHawks 68-67 in the MAC opener, one season ago. The double-doubles by Austin, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Skanes, who had 14 points and 12 rebounds, led the Eagles in the contest. Olivia Smith earned a career-high 18 points (4-9 3FG) in the victory.
ALL-TIME VS. MIAMI
Wednesday's matchup will mark the 67th meeting between Eastern Michigan and Miami. The RedHawks lead the all-time series, 42-24. However, EMU has won the last five battles and came out on top in six of the last 10 games.

Eastern will continue conference play as it prepares to travel to Ohio University, Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m.
