MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team competed against Big Ten member, the University of Minnesota, Saturday, Jan. 13, on the road. The Eagles finished with a season-high 194.900 team score behind the Gophers' 196.300.

Eight Eagles recorded season-bests in the meet, topping their previous scores set at the Western Michigan University dual meet, Jan. 7.

"I've been saying this team is something special for a while now, and tonight proved it," exclaimed Head Coach Katie Minasola. "After some challenging travel obstacles, this team continued to show up. They have so much heart and desire and I am so incredibly proud of them".

How It Happened
The Eagles began the meet once more on bars where the team earned a 48.475, an improvement from the season opener at WMU (48.025). Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) and Trinity Macy (Rowlett, Texas/Texas Connections Academy/Pittsburgh) led the event for EMU, with each scoring a 9.800 that tied for fourth overall on uneven bars.

On Eastern's second rotation, the Green and White scored 48.650 on vault. Boris recorded a 9.825 on the apparatus for the top spot among Eagles and tied with one other Gopher for the overall top spot in the event.

EMU's third rotation took the team to the floor where the Eagles grabbed a 48.800 event score. Five Gophers took the top-five spots leaving Boris' 9.825 in sixth place overall on floor.

Eastern Michigan finished the meet on beam with an improved season-high 48.975 event score, topping the 48.350 posted at WMU. Freshman Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason) led the charge for the Eagles on the apparatus, earning a career-high 9.875, good for second place overall.
