EMU Men's Golf Travels to Badger Invitational

MADISON, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team continues its 2023-24 campaign at the Badger Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin, Oct. 1-3. The University Ridge Golf Course plays to a par-72 and a length of 7,286 yards. Each day of the event will showcase one round with a shotgun start and continuous play beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The 18-team tournament will feature Ball State, Campbell, Central Arkansas, Eastern Michigan, Florida Gulf State, Illinois State, Long Beach State, Loyola of Chicago, Marquette, Maryland, MTSU, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, South Alabama, South Dakota State, VCU, Western Carolina and Wisconsin.
EMU will use the lineup of senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario/Saint Thomas Aquinas/Nevada), senior Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich./Clarkston), freshman Avery Mahoney (Burlington, Ontario/Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School), sophomore Nathaniel Gray Lamont (Guelph, Ontario/Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute), and sophomore Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta-HJ Cody). Playing as an individual will be sophomore Victor Caliguri (Cincinnati, Ohio-Elder).
The last time EMU was a participating member of the Badger Invitational was during the 2021-22 campaign when MJ Smith poured in four birdies on the day to finish the event with a career-best 216 (69-77-70) at the University Ridge Golf Course. His 13th-place showing marked the first time in his young career that he had collected a top-15 finish.
As a team, Eastern finished ninth out of 14 teams with a tally of +13, 877. Illinois State hung on to earn the tournament win with an eight-under 856. Sam Houston (-5, 859) and Cincinnati (-4, 860) were the only other programs to finish under par. Host Wisconsin finished fourth at three-over 867 on their home course, while Northern Illinois placed fifth just one shot back at four-over 868.
