Eastern, who led the league with the most selections, saw 39 individuals honored throughout the year
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's track and field program continues to lead Mid-American Conference academically as a league-best 37 Eagles were named to the Academic All-MAC Outdoor Team today, June 28.
Eastern was one of two institutions to total at least 30 academic honorees with Kent State University earning 31. All told, 230 individuals earned Academic All-MAC accolades for the 2023 outdoor track and field campaign.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.

For the academic year, which includes the 2022 cross country and 2023 indoor track and field seasons, Eastern saw 39 total individuals earn recognition from the MAC, including seven individuals (four men and three women) that met the standards academically and athletically in all three sports. Those individuals included Gualter, Magnusson, Vennemann, and Zuercher for the men and women's runners Davies, Moreno, and Musta. Additionally, 32 total Eagles, including 12 men and 20 women, were named to the Academic All-MAC squads in both indoor and outdoor track and field in 2023.
