Lawrence has extended her team-leading scoring streak to nine consecutive games

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team fell to the defending Mid-American Conference champions, Central Michigan University Wednesday, April 26, on the road in a 19-4 decision in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Three different Eagles scored in the setback for Eastern Michigan (1-14, 0-7 MAC), led by Sydney Lawrence (Wylie, Texas-Plano Senior-Oregon), who connected on two in the final period, while Central Michigan saw eight Chippewas find the back of the net, three of whom collected hat tricks on the day.

How It Happened
The Chips opened with a 5-0 lead before the Green and White got on the board as Gina Jaffurs (Leonardtown, Md.-St. Mary's Ryken College) found Abby Alderman (Lusby, Md.-Patuxent), who scored with 2:51 on the clock, just before her twin sister Amber Alderman (Lusby, Md. Patuxent) connected on a shot to cut the CMU lead to three after the first quarter. The second saw six unanswered Chippewas goals to put Central up, 11-2, after 30 minutes of play.

The home Chips went up, 17-2, following a third period that saw Giuliana Ditsky (Wyomissing, Pa.-Berks Catholic) make four saves on 10 shots on goal. From there, both teams advanced their score by two each as Lawrence netted a goal at the 14:36 mark off a free-position attempt after getting fouled following a won draw control by Ab. Alderman to open the period. She scored again with 3:17 left in the game off another free-po for the senior's 30th season goal. The Eagles would then surrender the Chippewas 19th goal of the night to fall, 19-4.

Game Notes
» Lawrence recorded a pair of goals to not only give her 30 on the season, but she also extended her team-leading scoring streak to nine consecutive games. During that stretch, she has tallied 23 goals and added eight assists for 31 points. For the season, she now has nine games with multiple goals scored, including the last two and in five of the last six.
» Savannah Berner (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), in just her second game this year, earned a spot in the starting line up. She is the 22nd different player to start at least one game for the Eagles in their inaugural season. Berner recorded one ground ball in the game, a career-high.
» Ditsky stopped 11 shots in the game, marking the eighth time this year, and the third game in a row, in which she recorded double-digit saves. Her 11 saves against the Chippewas rank as the third-most in a single game at EMU behind a pair of 12-save games she recorded earlier this season.
