Eastern looking to build upon shared MAC title in 2025
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team will play a 16-game schedule in 2026 as the Eagles look to build upon the 2025 Mid-American Conference Championship the program shared in just its third varsity season. With a deep squad that includes 12 seniors, Eastern is slated for seven home games and nine road contests with four games scheduled against first-time foes.
The season gets underway Feb. 6 when Eastern ventures to Milwaukee, Wis., to face Marquette University before returning home for a Feb. 8 contest with Butler University at the Indoor Practice Facility in Ypsilanti. The games mark the fourth consecutive year the Eagles have faced both Big East teams in the same season and the third time Eastern will play the pair on the same weekend.
The game with Butler will start a run of three consecutive home games which will see EMU play host to Lindenwood University, Feb. 11, and Xavier University, Feb. 14. The game with the Lions will mark the first in program history for the Eagles while the meeting with the Musketeers will be the third after the two teams began play in 2023.
Eastern will then hit the road for five consecutive games to close out its non-conference schedule, starting with a Feb. 18 trip to Buffalo, N.Y., to take on Canisius University. The Eagles will then head west to Eugene, Ore., for a Feb. 22 game with the University of Oregon Ducks, a member of the Big Ten. The final three games of the road swing will take the Eagles through the Ohio Valley as they open with a March 1 game in Clarksville, Tenn., against first-year program Austin Peay State University before heading into Nashville, Tenn., to take on Vanderbilt University, March 4. The road trip ends March 8 in Cincinnati, Ohio, with a game at the University of Cincinnati.
With the five-game road trip at an end, the Eagles will return to home action for one game as they play host to Kent State University, March 14, in the MAC opener for both squads. Eastern is back on the road for its next two games as the Eagles first face the University of Detroit Mercy, March 19, in Detroit before heading to Akron, Ohio, March 28, to face the University of Akron in the first of two games against teams the Eagles shared the MAC title.
When April begins, so does a three-game home stretch that will see the Eagles open with Central Michigan University, April 4, at Scicluna Field. The home stand continues, April 11, with the newest member of the league, the University of Massachusetts, coming to town one year removed from winning the Atlantic 10 Conference and playing in the NCAA Tournament. The final home game of the season follows, April 18, with a Senior Day game against Robert Morris University, the third team that tied for the 2025 MAC title. The regular season finale follows, April 25, with the Eagles heading to Youngstown, Ohio, to take on Youngstown State University.
Once again, the top four teams in the final standings will compete in the MAC Tournament, April 30 and May 2, at Robert Morris in Moon Township, Pa. The two semifinals will be played April 30 with the winners meeting May 2 in the final where the champion will once again earn the MAC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
