YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com ) - Senior Luke Russo (Howell, Mich.-Howell) struck out eight University of Toledo hitters over 5.2 innings of work, but it was not enough as the Eastern Michigan University baseball team fell to the Rockets, 10-9, today, April 22, inside Oestrike Stadium.
In addition to his eight strikeouts, Russo (4-2) tossed 5.2 innings for Eastern Michigan (16-21, 6-14 MAC). The Rockets expanded their lead to 10-8 before the Eastern Michigan offense got back in action, cutting into that lead in the eighth. The Eagles scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Taylor Hopkins (Mason, Ohio-Archbishop Moeller), bringing the score to 10-9 in favor of Toledo. The Eagles were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
