Upgrades are headlined by a full-field turf installation featuring a gray infield

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University baseball team, Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee, and Head Coach Robbie Britt revealed significant upgrades to Oestrike Stadium Thursday, Oct. 2, completing a nearly 18-month process of improvements.

A full-field turf installation headlines the upgrades, along with outfield wall/fence padding, dugout expansion/padding, concourse renovation/expansion, stadium painting, and a new fence and column installation along Champions Drive.

"These upgrades represent the next step in the development of our baseball program," Wetherbee stated. "It's been a long time in the making, and they now have the facility they deserve, a fully-turfed, state-of-the-art field that can compete with any facility in the conference," added Wetherbee.

Highlighting the stadium upgrades is the fully turfed field, featuring a sunburst-striped outfield and gray infield dirt and warning track, representing EMU's blue-collar mentality. Additionally, Oestrike Stadium becomes the first Division I field to feature a gray playing surface.

"Our program is incredibly grateful for the support and investment in our facilities," Britt stated. "Everything worth achieving in life happens twice, first in the mind, then with the body. This project started as a vision nearly two years ago, and it's incredible to see that come to fruition today," Britt concluded.

The upgrades come as the Eagles are ready to take the new field for the first time in front of Eagle Nation this season, as the Second Annual Wild Card Game takes place tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 3, 5 p.m., giving fans their first opportunity to experience the stadium enhancements and check out the 2026 squad.

"These upgrades wouldn't be possible without the loyal support of our donors, alumni, and supporters throughout the country. We thank them for their support in the unprecedented landscape of today's college athletics," concluded Wetherbee.

The game is just a part of a day of celebration for the program, as the 16th Annual EMU Baseball Golf Outing takes place at Eagle Crest Golf Club that morning, 8 a.m.
