Britt was in his third year as the leader of the program

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University Vice President/Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee announced today, Nov. 14, that Head Baseball Coach Robbie Britt has resigned his position to pursue an opportunity in Major League Baseball.

"I want to thank Coach Britt for his commitment and dedication to our baseball program over the past two years," said Wetherbee. "We appreciate the impact Robbie made on our student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. He leaves Eastern Michigan baseball in a stronger position, and we look forward to building on the foundation he and his staff created. We wish Robbie, his wife Courtney, and their family all the best in the future."

"I'm incredibly grateful for my time here at Eastern Michigan," Britt added. "Two and a half years ago, we came to Eastern with the mission of creating a life program through the platform of baseball, and I'm confident that we've created a strong foundation to continue graduating leaders, creating champions and developing stewards. This community is special and I look forward to the continued success of the program. I want to thank Scott Wetherbee, Greg Steiner, and the entire Eastern community for welcoming us and supporting us over these last few years."

Britt led Eastern Michigan baseball for two seasons and delivered steady progress. He took over on June 16, 2023, and finished with 35 victories. His 2025 team went 21-31 and reached the Mid-American Conference Tournament Second Round. This marked the program's first postseason trip since 2018 and its first tournament win since 2017.

Britt developed players on the field and in the classroom. He coached three All-MAC honorees and 15 academic All-MAC selections. In 2024-25, his teams posted the highest GPA among EMU men's programs in the fall and winter terms with marks of 3.514 and 3.470.

EMU also strengthened the program with nearly $2 million in upgrades to Oestrike Stadium over the last 18 months. The project added a full turf field with a sunburst outfield and gray infield, new wall padding, expanded dugouts, improved batting cages, and an updated concourse. Work included new paint, a new fence and columns along Champions Drive, an expanded press box, new foul poles, upgraded fiber for ESPN broadcasts, and new team technology through AWRE and Trackman.
