Tracy Grollman records program's fifth hat trick

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Despite a fourth-quarter push which included a four-point run for the Eagles, the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team fell to the St. Bonaventure University Bonnies, 14-8, Tuesday, March 14, on Scicluna Field. Tracy Grollman (Annapolis, Md.-Annapolis Area Christian School) led the team with three points off three goals (3-of-4), good for her first career hat trick.

How It Happened
The Bonnies of St. Bonaventure found the back of the net five unanswered times in the first quarter, setting the Eagles back 5-0 going into the second.

The next 15 minutes of play saw the Bonnies score their sixth goal of the day before Skylar Hilmer (San Diego, Calif.-Patrick Henry) netted her sixth season goal on a dime from Sydney Lawrence (Wylie, Texas-Plano Senior-Oregon) making the score 6-1 with 7:37 left on the clock. The Green and White offense strung together two more, one from Abby Alderman (Lusby, Md.-Patuxent) at 5:33 and another from Lawrence at 3:29, but unfortunately surrendered another five to the Bonnies closing out the half with the Eagles down 11-3.

The Eagles earned their fourth goal at the hands of Grollman who finished the day with her first career hat trick, stretching the score to 11-4, in favor of the Bonnies. The visiting St. Bonaventure answered with two back-to-back goals to extend its lead, 13-4, before saving a power rocket shot from Gina Jaffurs (Leonardtown, Md. St. Mary's Ryken College) with nine seconds remaining.

The fourth quarter saw more scoring action from the Green and White as four of the team's eight total goals were scored in the first 10 minutes of the last quarter. Maggie McCabe (Levittown, N.Y.-Division Avenue) brought home her first career goal at 13:19 on a man-up free position shot. Grollman followed McCabe for her second of the day, this time with help from Avery Schwab (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Scioto) who eventually netted one on a pass from Jaffurs at 7:07 to cut the Bonnies lead down to 13-7. Grollman completed her hat trick on an unassisted goal, her seventh of the season before the Eagles' defense allowed one final Bonnies goal, falling 14-8 to St. Bonaventure.
