Soccer Set to Host Five Spring Exhibition Matches

The Eagles will play four of their matches against fellow Michigan schools
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University soccer program is set to play host to five spring exhibition matches with all five scheduled to be played inside the St. Joe's Sports Dome on the EMU campus, Head Coach Scott Hall announced, Feb. 7. All five matches are slated to begin at 2 p.m.
The Eagles will play four of their five friendlies against Michigan schools, including three that competed in their respective NCAA tournaments in Michigan State University (NCAA Division I) and NCAA Division II participants Ferris State University and Grand Valley State University.
The spring opens Feb. 18 with a visit from the University of Detroit Mercy Titans. The two teams played in the exhibition opener ahead of the 2022 season with the Titans taking a 2-1 win at the Legacy Center Sports Complex in Brighton, Mich., Aug. 11. The Eagles will then meet UDM's Horizon League rival, Purdue University Fort Wayne, March 18.
The midway point of the spring will see the start of three-consecutive matches against national tournament qualifiers, leading off with the Lakers of GVSU visiting campus, March 25. The Lakers won the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles before advancing to the second round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
When the calendar turns to April, the Eagles will two more matches, leading off with the Spartans of MSU, April 8, before closing the spring against the Bulldogs of FSU, April 15. Michigan State captured the Big Ten regular season title last year before taking second in the conference tournament and reaching the second round of the NCAA Division I tournament. Ferris State made the deepest run of Eastern's five foes as the Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Division II semifinals.
Admission for all matches is free with parking available to the east of the Dome.
