RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) —
The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team heads west to the Grand Canyon State to participate in the 20th Annual Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, Feb. 24-26.  This year's field is composed of 18 teams with four out of five individual scores counting toward the team total each day.

The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, runs from Friday through Sunday on the Quail Run Golf Course at Rio Verde Country Club. Live scoring will be available at GolfGenius.com.

The event features seven Mid-American Conference programs: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, and WMU.

The field also includes Bradley, Butler, California Baptist, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Loyola (Ill.), Missouri State, Oakland, South Dakota, Wichita State, and Xavier.

Originally known as the East/West Rio Verde Invitational, WMU, won the inaugural invitational in the spring of 2003 with a score of 614. The event moved from a 36-hole to a 54-hole format in 2005. This year's tournament returns to the White Wing Course, where it was last held in 2020.

In 2022,  Eastern Michigan finished in a tie with Ball State for 10th in the standings. EMU posted a three-day total of 933 (303-317-313), as Kennesaw State won the event by 12-shots. Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) was the teams best finisher, posting a 226 (75-75-76) for 19th.

Senior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) will lead the same lineup from last season's event for the Eagles. Dull, junior Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland), senior Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit), and sophomore Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School) round out the rotation for Head Coach Stephanie Jennings.
