Eastern posts season-high 48.350 on vault in loss

LEXINGTON, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team dropped a dual meet to the University of Kentucky, 197.125-193.575, Friday night, Feb. 10, inside Memorial Coliseum.  

How It Happened
EMU began the night on bars, where the squad earned a 48.350 event score. Raisa Boris' (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) second consecutive 9.850 bars performance was a team-best and good for fourth place overall. Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) also added a 9.725 in her second straight meet to boost the team score. 

The Eagles' second rotation came on vault and resulted in a season-best 48.650 score on the event. Parris and Alana Fisher (Athens, Ala.-Alabama Connections Academy) highlighted the event for EMU, posting duel 9.775s for seventh place. Fisher's mark is a career high for the sophomore.

Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) and classmate Emma Lewis (Grand Rapids, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) also notched season highs on vault with 9.700 scores. Sophia Rios (DeWitt, Mich.-DeWitt) added a career best in the event with a 9.700 as well. 

Eastern Michigan's third rotation on floor earned the team a 48.225 event score. Boris posted the team's highest score once again with a 9.825 for second place. The junior has now posted a 9.800 or better on floor in four consecutive meets. 

The Green and White concluded the evening with a 48.350 effort on beam. Boris recorded a team-best 9.800 on the apparatus to take fifth overall in the event. Trinity Macy (Rowlett, Texas -Texas Connections Academy-Pittsburgh) also scored a 9.775 in her EMU beam debut against the Wildcats.
