FARGO, N.D. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's basketball team prepares for two upcoming road contests in the state of North Dakota as the Eagles are slated to face the Bison of North Dakota State University Friday, Dec. 1, before meeting with the Fighting Hawks of the University of North Dakota Sunday, Dec. 3. The two away games are the start of a five-game consecutive road slate in the month of December for the Eagles.
The Green and White (1-3) enter the weekend after falling to the University of Michigan, 80-44, Friday, Nov. 24, on the road. The Bison (2-4) are coming off a 73-58 setback at the hands of defending Mid-American Conference Champions, the University of Toledo Saturday, Nov. 25, while the Fighting Hawks (2-5) are looking to stretch their win streak to two after defeating Minot State University, 82-53, Tuesday, Nov. 28.

STAYING ON TREND
Picking up where it left off in the 2022-23 season, EMU continues to lead the Mid-American Conference in blocked shots per game with 5.0 this season. Last season, EMU produced an average of 4.2 blocks per game, good for first in the league and 46th nationally. The year prior, the team averaged 3.3 blocks per game, showing a significant improvement in the 2022-23 campaign. Additionally, Tayra Eke, who led both the Green and White and the MAC in total blocks with 51 one season ago, currently leads the league with 2.8 blocked shots per game.
EXPERIENCED KENNEDI
Kennedi Myles led the Eagles in rebounds for the fourth consecutive game with seven against Michigan, Nov. 24. The graduate student leads the Green and White with 39 total rebounds. Additionally, her 13 offensive boards rank first on the team as well as her 26 defensive boards.
ROOKIE IN THE STARTING FIVE
Freshman Cali Denson found herself in the starting lineup for the third consecutive game after doing so for the first time in her career in the road game at Georgia Southern University, Nov. 11. Denson has been the only freshman this season to be in the starting five.
AUSTIN-TACIOUS
Lachelle Austin finished the game at Michigan with one made field goal marking the 38th consecutive game in which the junior has registered a single make. Additionally, her one steal marked her ninth consecutive game with a single steal and her four helpers add as her 26th career game with three or more assists in a single contest.
STICKY FINGERS
Three Eagles registered multiple steals for the second consecutive game after doing so in the victory over SIUE, Nov. 18. Against the Wolverines, Kyndal Lewis led the team with four steals, while Cali Denson and Kennedi Myles each collected two.
IN THE TOP-THREE
Two Eagles currently rank in the MAC top-three, in Tayra Eke (1st- total blocks - 11; 1st- blocked shots/game - 2.8), and Kennedi Myles (2nd- rebounds/game - 9.8).
ALL-TIME VS. NDSU
EMU and North Dakota State will meet for just the second time in their respective histories after the Green and White defeated the Bison, 73-55, at home, Dec. 1 - exactly one year from when the two are expected to meet again.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE BISON
Tayra Eke recorded her second-consecutive double-double while three of her teammates reached double-digits in scoring to help EMU to a 73-55 victory over NDSU, Dec. 1, 2022. The Eagles won the battle between undefeated teams as all players scored at least two points to help Eastern hand the Bison their first loss of the 2022-23 season.

EMU and North Dakota will meet for just the fourth time in program history. The Fighting Hawks hold the upper hand over the Eagles with a 2-1 all-time record. Additionally, UND holds the most recent win, a 79-73 victory over the Eagles inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center, Dec. 4, 2022.
Moreover, Sunday's contest will mark just the second time the two schools have met in Grand Forks, N.D. The Eagles made their way to the Fighting Hawks for the first time in the 2009-09 season when UND defeated EMU, 80-71, Nov. 14.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE FIGHTING HAWKS
EMU took a 60-59 advantage into the fourth quarter, but could not hang on and fell 79-73 to the Fighting Hawks Sunday, Dec. 4, inside the George Gervin GameAbove Center. The Eagles (5-1) had four players score in double figures, led by senior Natalia Pineda, who had 19 points and three blocks. The Eastern Michigan offense was strong from deep, making eight threes on 33 attempts. Pineda hit five treys for the Eagles in the contest.
ON THE HORIZON
Following the weekend in North Dakota, the Eagles will continue their December road slate as the team prepares to travel to St. Charles, Mo. next to face the Lions of Lindenwood University. The game, which is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 7, will start at 6 p.m. CT.
