Olivia Sipsock joins Robinson on MAC All-Freshman Team
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Freshman Kate Robinson (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) was named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year while freshman Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) joined Robinson on the MAC All-Freshman Team, the MAC announced Tuesday, Oct. 30.
Robinson tallied 13 points during the 2023 season, including three goals and a MAC-leading seven assists. Robinson was the first freshman Eagle in 16 years to record seven assists and the first EMU player with seven-plus assists since 2013.
Robinson had a two-assist output against Purdue Fort-Wayne University, Sept. 7, in addition to netting the game-winning penalty kick in the 73rd minute against Central Michigan University, Sept. 21.
Her 13 points were the most among MAC freshmen.
Robinson is EMU's fourth MAC Freshman of the Year, joining Sabrina McNeill (2016), Angela Vultaggio (2011), and Amanda Kulikowski (1998).
Sipsock posted 12 points during the 2023 season behind five goals and two assists. She was one of two freshmen in the conference with five goals and her 12 points was second among MAC freshmen, only behind Robinson.
Sipsock's season was highlighted by an 87th-minute penalty kick equalizer against Buffalo, Oct. 1, as EMU erased a 3-1 deficit in the final seven minutes to help the Eagles earn one point. Sipsock also tallied an assist in the match.
The Eagles placed multiple players on the MAC All-Freshman Team for the first time since 2011 (Emily Dzik, Bianca Rossi, and Angela Vultaggio).
