Chemotti earns fourth consecutive first place finish on beam

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished fourth overall at the West Virginia University Quad Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29. The Eagles earned a season-best 194.050, but placed fourth behind West Virginia (196.375), Towson University (196.025) and Iowa State University (195.825).
Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich.-Canton) posted EMU's top score of the night with a 9.900 on beam for first place in the event. The sophomore has now earned first place finishes on beam at all four meets for the Eagles so far this season.
How It Happened
The Eagles began the meet on floor where the team earned a 48.550 event score. Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) and Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) led the event for EMU, both scoring a 9.800. Crossen's effort earned the senior a new season best on bars.
On Eastern's second rotation, the Green and White scored 48.175 on vault where Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) recorded a 9.725 on the apparatus for the top spot among all Eagles. Sophia Rios (DeWitt, Mich.-DeWitt) made her second collegiate appearance this afternoon on vault with a 9.625 for EMU.
The third rotation took the team to bars where the Eagles grabbed a 48.325 event score. Boris posted a 9.825, Eastern's top meet score, for seventh place overall in the event. In four meets so far this season, the junior has notched three bar scores of 9.825 or better with a season high 9.875 set against Ball State, Jan. 22.
Eastern Michigan finished the day on beam with a 49.000 score, the best event finish of the meet for the Eagles. Chemotti shined bright for the Green and White once again, scoring a team best 9.900 for her fourth consecutive first place finish in the event. Crossen also performed within the top five competitors on beam with a 9.850 for fourth overall.
