BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team wrapped up play at the two-day, 36-hole Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, held at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio today, April 10.
The Eagles finished in seventh place overall for the event, out of 11 teams, after firing a two-day total of 626 (315-311). The result, which put the team at +50 for the event comes despite an impressive four-shot, round-over-round improvement from yesterday. Host BGSU earned the overall team title after shooting a 595 (+19) for the event. EMU was just four spots off a top-five finish at the invite.
Individually, sophomores Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) and Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) each finished with scores of 154 for the tournament, to tie for 13th place. Three individuals led the leaderboard with scores of two over par (146).
How it Happened
After leading EMU's first round with a six-over, 78, Watson was strong yet again for the Green and White on day two of the tournament. This time, she turned in a four-over 76, the second-best effort of any Eagle on the day. Watson finished with 12 pars on for the round, and recorded one birdie. She never scored higher than a bogey.
Elsewhere on the course, Dull bounced back with an impressive, three-over, 75, to lead EMU. That is one shot better than her season average of four-over. She utilized a consistent effort to notch 14 pars, one birdie, and just three over-par scores for the day.
