GULF SHORES, Ala. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) posted a 67 and is tied for fourth after the second day of competition at the Craft Farms Intercollegiate, March 28.
The senior shot two-under on the front and added three more birdies and no bogies on the back nine. South Alabama's Jack Hearn still holds the two-day lead with a 133 (67-66) on the 72, 7,107-yard Cotton Creek Golf Course at Craft Farms Golf Resort.
Eastern Michigan tallied a day two score of 291 with a 580 total (289-291) to sit in sixth place. The Eagles are two shots behind Southern Illinois and Rice in fourth with a 578. Leading the 13-team pool is USA, which holds a 36-hole tally of 556 (277-279).
How It Happened
Celone has now fired back-to-back scores of par-or-better to improve his tally to 12 in 23 rounds this season.
After Celone, senior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) continued his strong play at the event with a 74 to tie for 11th with a 144 (70-74).
Sophomore Max Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) added a 75 for a 148 (73-75) in a tie for 34th, while senior Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) is tied for 40th with a 149 (74-75). Rounding out the lineup, sophomore MJ Smith (Rockford, Ill.-Winnebago) carded a 77 to reside in 49th at 151 (74-77).
