Country Roads Take EMU to Mountaineer Invitational

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf returns to action at the Mountaineer Invitational, Oct. 4-5. The two-day tournament is being held at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W.Va.
The course will play approximately 7,308 yards and par is 72. The teams are slated to play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
The tournament field will feature 12 schools including: Bowing Green, Drexel, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, George Mason, Marshall, Maryland, North Carolina State, Ohio, Penn State, West Virginia, and Xavier.
EMU last took part in the event in 2019, posting a 915 (317-306-292) to finish in 10th-place. Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) bounced back from a 77 and a 78 to close with a final round 71. He finished the 54-hole event with a 226 total, ranking tied at 27th overall.
West Virginia won the tournament title for the second straight season with a three-round team total of 864, and three Mountaineers finished in the top-10 individually.
