PHOENIX, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – One year after it saw its 2019-20 season end prematurely at the Grand Canyon University Invitational, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team returns to Phoenix for another shot at the par 71, 7,176 yard GCU Golf Course.
The Eagles will compete in a field of 17 programs that includes: CBU, Creighton, CSUF, CSUN, Dixie State, Drake, Grand Canyon, North Dakota State, Northern Colorado, Pacific, Omaha, Sac State, South Dakota, Southern Miss, UTRGV, and Wichita State.
Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with 18 more on Tuesday with shotgun starts each day.
Prior to last year, Eastern was last at the tournament during the 2016-17 season, March 17-18. The team collected a third-place finish, as the Eagles tallied a final round 289 to wrap up the event with a two-day total of 848 (285-274-289). No. 21 Duke University won the tournament with a 829 (287-269-273) while Grand Canyon was second with a 835 (279-283-273).
The 54-hole tally ranked second in program history, bettered only by an 841 (275-277-289) at the Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 25-27. Jared Multer did his best to help rewrite the record books, as he finished tied with Duke's Alex Smalley for the runner-up spot. Multer posted a personal-best 204 (69-66-69) to shatter his previous low of 213 set earlier in the season at EKU Intercollegiate.
Live results throughout the two-day event will be available via GolfStat.com and full results from each day will be available at the end of the day on EMUEagles.com.
