The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team finished second in the Eagle Invitational Saturday, Feb. 6, inside the Convocation Center after scoring a season-high 195.800. Ball State University came in first with a team score of 195.975, while Western Michigan University scored 195.575, coming in third. Finally, Kent State came in fourth, totaling 194.825.

"I am so proud of this team," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "The energy was amazing and they kept the momentum going. A lot of great performances happened tonight. We look forward to building off this meet moving forward."

Eastern started the day on vault, led by senior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline) as she tied her career-high of 9.800 in the event, for third place. Junior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) and sophomore Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) both scored 9.775, tying for eighth. Sophomore Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) earned 9.750 on the event and freshman Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) chipped in a score of 9.525 in her first collegiate vault. The Eagles sat in fourth place after the first rotation, scoring 48.625. Western Michigan was in the lead, earning a big 49.225 on floor. They were followed by Ball State and Kent State, both scoring 48.800 on bars and beam, respectively.

Moving over to bars, the Eagles looked to turn it up with a season-high bars score of 48.975. Parris topped the squad with a career-high 9.850, placing second, followed by senior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central), scoring 9.825, tying for third. Two more personal-bests came from Boris and Crossen, scoring 9.800 and 9.775, respectively. The Green and White were in third, scoring 97.600 after two. WMU remained on top with a team score of 98.075, BSU in second (97.700), and Kent State in fourth (97.375).

For the third rotation, EMU scored another season-high, 49.000 on beam, after two huge routines. Junior Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) did it again as the anchor of the beam lineup, scoring 9.925 for a career-high as she claimed first. Satler joins an EMU great with that score, tying for second all-time in program history with former Eagle Natalie Gervais. Crossen had a career-high of her own, earning a big 9.900 and tying for second. Rondeau and Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy) chipped in scores of 9.800 and 9.700, respectively. Eastern (146.600) still trailed the Cardinals (146.975) and the Broncos (146.800). The Golden Flashes (146.075) remained in fourth.

Eastern Michigan attempted to close the gap in the fourth rotation and leave it all on the floor as they hit four career-highs. Rondeau and Roberts both scored 9.900, tying for first place, and moving up to 15th all-time in program history. Junior Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) earned her personal-best 9.875, tying for sixth. Lastly, junior Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp.,Pa.-Moon Area) rounded out the high-scorers, hitting 9.825 and tying for 11th. The final push was not enough, as the Eagles (195.800) climbed to second but were unable to pass Ball State (195.975).

The team will return to action at the GymQuarters Invitational in St. Charles Mo., Friday, Feb. 12. The meet will include Ball State, Lindenwood, Illinois State, Air Force, and Southeast Missouri, with events scheduled to start at 4 p.m. CT.
