Sophomore Molly Parris earned career-high on beam

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed second at the GymQuarters Invitational, scoring 193.975, Friday, Feb. 12. Ball State came out on top, scoring 194.275. In third was Lindenwood (192.725), followed by Southeast Missouri State (191.725) in fourth. Air Force and Illinois State finished fifth and sixth with scores of 190.900 and 190.225, respectively.
 
The Eagles started the meet on vault where the lineup opened up with a 48.425 in the event. The scoring five were led by senior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) and sophomores Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) and Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) all scoring 9.700. Junior Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) and freshman Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park. Minn-Park Center) added scores of 9.675.
 
After a bye, the Green and White moved to bars, where senior Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick) anchored the lineup again, scoring a 9.875. Classmate Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) tied her career-high of 9.850. Parris earned a score of 9.775, while Robert chipped in a 9.725. Robert rounded out the scorers with a 9.675. Eastern finished the second rotation with a score of 97.275.
 
EMU moved immediately to beam where junior Caitlin Satler (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg) and Rondeau led the lineup, scoring a pair of 9.875s. Parris scored a career-high on the apparatus with a score of 9.750, while Boris earned a 9.725. Senior Brianna Price (Kings Mountains, N.C.-Homeschool) chipped in a score of 9.700, as the Eagles ended their third event with a team score of 146.075.
 
Finishing the meet on floor after its final bye, Kosanovich scored 9.800, while Roberts and Rondeau both earned 9.775 for their routines. Satler and Boris rounded out the scoring five, earning 9.625 and 8.925, respectively. The Green and White ended the evening with a team score of 193.975, claiming second at the invitational.
 
EMU has a quick turnaround as they fly back to Ypsilanti to host Kent State University at the Convocation Center Sunday, Feb. 14. The "Purple Meet" for Epilepsy awareness will being at 3 p.m.
