YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving program will continue its 2021 fall schedule with a home meet against Mid-American Conference foe Akron Saturday, Nov. 6.
The meet will be held at Saline High School and is slated for a 2 p.m. start time. Fans can follow the meet via live results. Additionally, updates will be posted from the team's Twitter account, @EMUSwimDive.
LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles are coming off an impressive 168-131 victory over Bowling Green, Oct. 30, where EMU tabbed 10 first place finishes. Sophomore swimmer Sav Mouat (Tecumseh, Ontario-All Saints) won the 1000-yard freestyle (10:21.93) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.49) while senior Riley Hofmann (Ada, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) won the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.02) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:30.28).
On the boards, senior Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) won the 3-meter diving event (274.80) while freshman Camryn Hughes (London, Ontario-Sir Frederick Banting Secondary) took first in the 1-meter dive (264.60).
EMU has started with an overall record of 2-0 two of the last four seasons and will look to make it a third time in the last five years on Saturday.
SCOUTING AKRON: Akron defeated Miami, 190-110, in the program's first dual meet of the 2021-22 season, Oct. 30. Akron triumphed in the first five events of last Saturday's meet, tallying 13 victories on the afternoon. The Zips finished second (766) at last season's MAC Championships, April 17, 2021, while Eastern Michigan took sixth place (305).
HISTORY VS. THE ZIPS: The Eagles have not beaten the Zips in a head-to-head meet since Nov. 4, 2017. The Green and White have dropped the last two meetings against Akron including the most recent meeting in a 204-96 result, Nov. 20, 2020. Despite UA's recent success, the Eagles have won 16 of the last 18 dual meets between the two programs, dating back to the 1998-99 season.
UP NEXT: EMU will travel to Rochester, Mich. to compete against Oakland, Nov. 12. The meet is set to begin at 5 p.m.
