Additions to the Eagles are from Kentucky, Ohio, and Canada

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University Head Men's Golf Coach Bruce Cunningham, in his continued development of one of the top programs in the Mid-American Conference, has signed four players to National Letters of Intent for 2022-23. Cunningham announced today, Nov. 29, that Victor Caliguri (Cincinnati, Ohio-Elder), Cooper Eberle (Richmond, Ky.-Madison Central), Logan Graf (Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada-HJ Cody), and Ryan Somerville (Aurora, Ontario, Canada-Aurora) will join the Eagles next season.

"We are thrilled to have made the additions of a strong recruiting class," mentioned Cunningham. "These student-athletes will have both immediate and long-term impacts on Eastern Michigan men's golf program."

Caliguri notched the best finish at the state championships in Elder High School history, as he broke the scoring average record and set multiple course records for the Panthers. He earned first team all-city, all-district, and all-state honors while collecting team MVP accolades in his final three seasons. Caliguri finished in third place at the 2021 Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Division I State Tournament on the Scarlet Course at Ohio State with a 144 (73-71) while taking second at the Greater Cincinnati Golf Association (GCGA) 2021 Jr. Metropolitan Championship (65-74=139). He tied for sixth at the Golfweek 2020 Elite Invitational with a 142 (69-73) and tied for 21st at the GolfWeek 2021 Elite Invitational (73-75). Additionally, Caliguri was accepted into the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

Eberle was a three-time Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) All-Region selection at Madison Central High School. He notched one individual tournament victory and four top-10 showings for the Indians, as the squad set the state record for most team tournament wins at 10. Furthermore,  he won the 2019 Louisville Junior Open at Oxmoor Country Club and followed it up with a runner-up showing at the 2019 Lexington Junior Open at Lakeside Golf Course. Eberle took fifth at the 2021 Kentucky PGA Junior Championship, with a 142 (70-72) and 11th at the 2021 AJGA Natural Resources Tournament at Bellefonte Country Club. He also posted a 149 (76-73) at the 2021 National JR PGA at Kearney Hills Golf Course and finished 19th with a 219 at the 2021 AJGA at Sylvania Country Club.

Graf was the Maple Leaf Junior Tour's 2021 National Player of the Year with a scoring average of 70.43. He has 17 career top-three finishes on the tour and has represented the Alberta Golf Interprovincial team for the past two years. Graf turned in a second place finish at the Alberta U-19 Junior Provincial Championship with a nine-under 207 (64-72-71) and was the 2018 Alberta Golf U15 Provincial Champion. His 2021 competitive round scoring average was 72.2.

Somerville was selected for Team Ontario for both 2021 and 2022, after finishing second at the 2021 GAO U19 Spring Classic with a three-round tally of 205 (67-71-67). He also tied for fifth at the 2021 GAO Super Camp with rounds of 74, 63, and 71. The Aurora, Ontario native also took third at the 2021 Golf Canada NextGen East and tied for eighth at the 2021 Alberta U19 Championship with a one-under 287.  The champion of 2020 MJT U19 Grey Silo, Somerville finished 13th at the 2021 GAO U19 Championship at Whistle Bear Golf Club with a 290 (74-74-71-71).

The Eagles' spring campaign gets underway in February when the squad travels to Florida to compete in the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play, Feb. 7-8, 2022.
