The Chippewas score in the first overtime period to defeat the Eagles

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- In the 2021 season finale, the Eastern Michigan University soccer team fell to Central Michigan University, 2-1, in overtime Thursday afternoon at Scicluna Field.

The result gives the Eagles a 2-13-3 overall record and a 1-8-2 Mid-American Conference record to finish the 2021 campaign.

How It Happened
49' | The Eagles got on the board first early in the second half when sophomore Amanda Cripps (Bradford, Ontario-Trinity Catholic) scored into the bottom right corner of the net on a play from freshman Maddie O'Farrell (Haslett, Mich.-Lansing Catholic) to give EMU the one-goal advantage.

50' | The Chippewas would score in the very next minute when Chesney Wargo scored into the bottom left corner of the net on a rebound chance to bring the match back even at one goal apiece.

97' | CMU would earn the game-winner in the first overtime period on a score from Jaelyn Dobrowolski.

Game Notes
» Cripps scored her third goal of the season and her 13th career goal.
» The Bradford, Ontario native is now just one point shy of 30 career points, currently sitting at 29.
» With her score on Sunday, Cripps finished the 2021 campaign with the team-lead in goals (3) and leads the squad in points (7).
» Cripps scored a goal in consecutive matches for the first time this season, and the only Eagle to do so in the 2021 season.
» With seven saves, sophomore Rebecca Przybylo (Canton, Mich.-Plymouth) finished her 2021 campaign with five or more saves in all seven of her appearances in net for the Eagles (six starts)
» Przybylo finished the year with 45 total saves, good for a mark of 6.43 saves per game.
» O'Farrell tallied her first collegiate assist with Cripps' goal on Thursday.
» The Haslett, Mich. native finished the year with three points (a goal and an assist).

Historical Notes
» Thursday's meeting was the 26th meeting between EMU and CMU.
» Eastern now leads the all-time series 16-7-3.
