Soccer Falls to Bowling Green in Thursday Nightcap

The Eagles return to Scicluna Field to host Toledo, Oct. 17
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University soccer team fell to Bowling Green State University, 3-0, inside Cochrane Stadium on Thursday night.
The loss drops EMU's overall record to 2-10-2 and 1-5-1 in Mid-American Conference play.
Senior Lindsey Shira (New Baltimore, Mich.-Anchor Bay) led the Eagles' attack with two shots and a shot on target while freshman Meagan Lukowski (Bay City, Mich.-Bay City) also notched a shot on goal. Senior keeper Chelsea Abbotts (Ottawa, Ontario-Mother Teresa) recorded a game-high 12 saves, facing 33 shots in net for the Green and White.
Junior Kylie Frantz (Erie, Pa.-Villa Maria Academy) led Eastern with 49 minutes off the bench.
How It Happened
The Falcon's attack controlled possession for the majority of the match, holding the ball on the Eagles' defensive side for 72 percent of their time in possession. Bowling Green started the scoring in the 28th minute, placing the ball in the lower left corner of the net to give the Falcons a one-goal lead heading into halftime. Coming out of the break, BGSU found the back of the net again in the 54th minute, doubling its lead.
Bowling Green would seal the victory in the 83rd minute, scoring its third goal of the night into the top left corner of the net.

» Abbotts recorded 12 saves on the night, a new season-high for the senior goalkeeper.
» The Ottawa, Ontario native was one save shy of tying her career-high, 13, a mark Abbotts tallied in the MAC Semifinals as she helped the Eagles defeat Ohio, 5-2, Nov. 8, 2019.
» The 33 total shots faced by the EMU defense was the most the back line has faced this season.
