The postponed fall season will begin March 4

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University Head Soccer Coach Scott Hall announced the team's spring 2021 schedule today, Jan. 25.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mid-American Conference postponed the traditional fall 2020 season and opted to move it to the spring of 2021. In addition, the MAC head coaches decided to return to the "divisional" structure for this season. Eastern Michigan will play each one of its five MAC West Division opponents twice in its 10-game slate. The winner of each division will play each other in a championship game to determine the league's NCAA automatic qualifier bid.

EMU will kick things off at home, hosting Central Michigan Thursday, March 4. The Green and White will then travel west on I-94 to face in-state rival Western Michigan on Sunday, March 7.  The Eagles remain on the road as they travel to DeKalb, Ill. to take on Northern Illinois.

Eastern then hosts consecutive games at home, welcoming Toledo, March 18, Ball State, March 21, and WMU, March 28.

Just as they faced each other to start March, Eastern and Central will will battle once again to start the month of April, this time in Mount Pleasant, Mich. on April 1.

April 4 will see the Huskies of Northern Illinois come to Ypsilanti in EMU's last regular season home game of the spring 2021 season.

Finishing with two straight road games, the Eagles will travel to Toledo to take on the Rockets, April 8, and to Muncie, Ind., April 11, to face the Cardinals, each for the second time this season.

The East and West Division champions will meet in the MAC Championship game on April 17. The team with the better of the two records will host the final match.

Attendance policies for this season will be announced in the coming weeks.

Eastern Michigan finished the 2019 season with an overall record of 8-11-3 and 5-6 mark in conference play. Claiming the seventh seed in the MAC Tournament, EMU defeated the second-seeded Ball State Cardinals in quarterfinals and sixth-ranked Ohio Bobcats in the semifinals before falling to the top overall seed, Bowling Green, in the tournament final.
