BLUFFTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team returns to the tee box Monday-Tuesday, March 2-3, at the eighth annual Colleton River Collegiate hosted by Michigan State University. The invitational will be held on the par-72, 7,180-yard Colleton River Club with the Eagles playing 36 holes of continuous play Monday beginning at 8:15 a.m.

The 15-team field includes: Bowling Green (150), Cincinnati (107), Eastern Michigan (139), Georgia Southern (81), Iowa (76), Iowa State (70), Kansas State (132), Kent State (55), Miami (92), Michigan State (84), Memphis (56), Notre Dame (12), Oakland (149), Ohio State (71), and Rutgers (75).

Located along the Atlantic Ocean, the Colleton River Plantation Club is a member-owned golf community that is surrounded on three sides by water. The only one of its kind in the southeast United States, the Colleton River Pete Dye Course, which opened in 1998, is a stunning links-type course that has unobstructed views of Port Royal Sound and the Atlantic Ocean from 11 of its 18 holes. Stretching more than 7,300 yards, it plays through dense Lowcountry forest as well as open scenic wetlands – and common to many of Dye's designs, it features small, undulating greens that are well-protected by pot bunkers.

In addition to the hosting of the U.S. Junior Amateur, Colleton River's Pete Dye Course has hosted eight U.S.G.A. qualifiers since 2005, including three U.S. Opens, four U.S. Amateurs and one U.S. Senior Open.

Last year, EMU finished 10th at the event, March 4-5, 2019, with an 884 (301-289-294). A pair of rounds at par-or-better helped Beau Breault  (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) and Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) move up the leaderboard on the final day. Breault fired a two-under 70 to finish in a tie for 12th-place, while Collins notched a 72 to tie for 15th.
