Men’s Golf Wraps Up Day One of Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – Junior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) shot a 68 in the first round, and the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team sits just eight shots outside the top-six spots midway through the second round of the Colleton River Collegiate at the Colleton River Club Pete Dye Course.
Play was suspended due to darkness with Georgia Southern (-10) holding a six-shot advantage over second-place Iowa State (-4). Notre Dame (+3), ranked 12th in the country, is third, Memphis (+7) is fourth and Kansas State (+8) is fifth. Some teams have about two holes left in the second round, which they will finish tomorrow before continuing on to the third and final round.
Collins is tied for 17th with a 144 (68076), while classmate Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) is in 32nd with a 148 (76-72). Senior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) managed a 151 (75-76) in a tie for 53rd, while Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) had a 153 (78-75). Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) and Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) rounded out the lineup with a 157 (78-79) and a 152 (73-79), respectively.
