EMU tied for the seventh-lowest 18-hole tally in program history to close the event

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – The Valley of the Sun has treated the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team well over the years, and Monday's final round the Loyola Intercollegiate did not stray from that tradition. Head Coach Bruce Cunningham's crew notched a 277, the seventh-lowest 18-hole score in program history, on the final day of competition on the par 72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club.
Eastern finished the three-day event with a tally of 850 (292-281-277) in second-place, just one stroke behind Drake's 849 (286-282-281). Overall, EMU's cumulative 54-hole total is tied for sixth-lowest in school-history.
Senior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) earned his fifth career top-10 showing in a tie for sixth with a 210 (74-66-70). The McKinney, Texas native posted both the lowest 18 (66) and 54 (210) hole scores of his career. He now has 19 rounds of par-or-better in his career.
Junior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) finished just outside the top-10 in 12th-place with a four-under 212 (71-71-70). Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) closed strong with a final round 68 to finish 27th with a 217 (74-75-68), while Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) added a 219 (73-74-72) in a tie for 46th. Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) rounded out EMU's scoring by shaving off strokes each round to notch a 220 (81-70-69).
Playing as an individual, Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) finished tied for 76th with a 223 (77-71-75).
Eastern Michigan will return to action at the Colleton River Collegiate in Bluffton, S.C., March 2-3.
