Men's Golf Wraps Up Rain-Soaked Day in Arizona

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – Battling considerable rain and wind, the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team wrapped up day one of the Loyola Intercollegiate in a three-way tie for sixth-place on the par 72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club. The Green and White along with Air Force, and Bucknell weathered the storm to shoot a 292, as the weather pattern brought up to an inch of rain across the Valley.
Junior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) notched his 28th career round of par-or-better with a 71 on the day. Celone posted three birdies on the day in a tie for ninth-place, four shots off the pace of Delaware's Roberto Nieves (67).
Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) added a 73 in a tie for 26th, while Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) and Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) shot a 74 for 34th. Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) posted an 81 in 107th to round out the lineup. Playing as an individual, Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) is tied for 77th with an opening round 77.
The tournament will continue with two more rounds on Sunday, Feb. 23, and Monday, Feb. 24. Live stats will be available via Golfstat.com and posted at EMUEagles.com each day.
