Men’s Golf In Arizona For Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team ramps back up stroke-play competition this weekend, Feb. 22-24, heading out to Palm Valley Golf Club in Arizona for the Loyola Intercollegiate. Action on the par-72, 7,015-yard championship course runs Sunday-Monday, with tee times beginning each day at 7:45 a.m. MT (9:45 a.m. ET). Fans can follow along with live scoring on Golfstat.com.
In addition to the Eagles and host team Loyola (Md.), the 19-team event will include squads from Air Force, Bucknell, Connecticut, Drake, Delaware, DePaul, Hartford, Loyola Marymount , Marshall, Missouri State, Murray State, Northern Illinois, Seton Hall, South Dakota, SIU-Edwardsville, UT-Martin (1), Xavier and a trio of individuals from Arizona State.
On the opening day, EMU will be paired with Air Force, UConn and South Dakota.
Eastern last took part in the tournament during the spring of 2018. Then-senior Tyler Lewis powered the Eagles to a tie for fourth-place. Lewis tied for the runner-up spot with a three-round 16-under par total of 200 (66-70-64), breaking the previous record of 203, accomplished a year earlier at the same event by Kyle Rodes.
In 2018, EMU finished in a three-way tie for fourth with Gonzaga and host Loyola (Md.), as the College of Charleston rolled to the team title with a 48-under par total of 816 (270-276-270). Eastern finished the tournament at 28-under 836 (280-284-272) to break the program's 18-hole standard of 273 established at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, Oct. 18, 2010, along with shattering the three round record of 841(275-277-289) set at the EKU Intercollegiate, Sept. 17-18, 2017.
