Women’s Cross Country Gains Experience at Warrior Challenge

Emily DeLine earns second place in 6K event

NEW BOSTON, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team gained experience at the Second Annual Warrior Challenge, hosted by Wayne State University, Saturday, Sept. 21, at Willow Metropark.

"Emily DeLine had an excellent race in hot conditions.  I'm pleased with her progress," commented head coach Sue Parks. "Our other three runners gained valuable experience in their first 6K."
 
Sophomore Emily DeLine (Newport, Mich.-Airport) shined for EMU with a second-place finish at the 6K event, as she clocked in with a time of 22:55.2. Freshman Linda Geissler (Weinheim, Germany-Werner-Heisenberg Gymnasium) clinched 15th spot with a 24:53.2 mark, while fellow freshman Lindsay Bush (North Olmstead, Ohio-Magnificat) crossed at 25:30.6 to place 23rd. Additionally, senior Abbigail Stemple (Mason, Ohio-William Mason) ranked 26th with a time of 26:12.9.
 
Eastern returns to action Saturday, Oct. 5, as both the men's and women's teams will head to Bethlehem, Pa. to compete in the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
