Five Eagles Named WGCA All-American Scholars

EMU's five selections tied for second-most in the conference

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (EMUEagles.com) –
Five members of the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), the organization announced today, July 8. EMU's five selections ranked tied for second-most in the Mid-American Conference, while the Green and White were one-of-eight Mid-American Conference schools to have multiple student-athletes recognized.
 
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative grade point average is 3.50. EMU's five selections come from a list of 1,097 student-athletes from all levels of NCAA competition.
 
Eastern Michigan's honorees include sophomore  Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International), juniors Maria Connelly ((Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne), Julia Stevenson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-University of Tampa), and Katelin Lawson  (Milford, Mich.-Milford), along with senior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval). The honor comes in consecutive years for Connelly, who was honored following the 2018 season as well.
 
Sripatrprasite posted an average of 77.20 while coming in all 10 tournaments. The Bangkok, Thailand product tied for eighth at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational with a 150 (71-79) and also tied for eighth at the Rio Verde Invitational with a two-round tally of 148 (71-77). She finished 13th at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational with a 162 (86-76) and tied for 18th at the Shirley Spork Invitational with a 155 (80-75). Sripatrprasite totaled a 156 (80-76) to take 19th at the Perry Park Spring Fling and closed with a final round 71 to become the first Eagle since 2016 to post a round below-par at the MAC Championships.
 
A three-year fixture on the greens for EMU, Connelly played in nine tournaments during the 2019 campaign, posting an average of 78.64, including firing a trio of rounds at even par. The Waterville, Ohio native closed the season with an even-par 72 to tie for 19th-place with a 228 (81-75-72) at the MAC Championships.  
 
Stevenson recorded an average of 79.86 in 22 rounds played. She posted the first top-10 showing of her career at the Perry Park Spring Fling when she tied for fifth with a 152 (73-79). The Milford, Mich. native tied for 15th at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational with a 153 (77-76) and placed 21st at the Shirley Spork Invitational with a 156 (79-77). Additionally, she finished 22nd at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational with a 166 (80-86) and was undefeated in four matches at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge.
 
In her third season at Eastern, Lawson played in 16 rounds, posting an average of 80.00. She recorded her first career top-10 finish at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational when she shot a 151 (77-74) to finish tied for 10th. The LaSalle, Ontario native tied for 15th at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational with a 163 (81-82) and took 21st at the Perry Park Spring Fling with a 157 (75-82).
 
Guilleux posted an average of 77.94 in 18 rounds during the season. She had a trio of top-20 showings, including finishing tied for 12th at the MAC Fall Preview with a 226 (70-77-79). The Saint Maur Des Fosse, France native was 16th at the Shirley Spork Invitational with a 154 (74-80) and took 19th-place at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate with a three-round total of 237 (79-79-79).
