KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University men's track and field team saw nine career-best efforts in its second day of competition at the Tennessee Relays hosted by the University of Tennessee Friday, April 12.

Leading the way was sophomore Skyler Lester (Marietta, Ga.-Marietta), who notched three top collegiate performances in the final five events of the relay's Decathlon competition. Lester started his day with a career-best 110m Hurdles time of 15.02, and continued his success with career-best field performances in the Pole Vault and the Javelin Throw, clearing 3.55m and 39.50m, respectively. His Decathlon point total of 6473 is also the Marietta, Ga. native's best effort while donning the Green and White.

Earning the Eagles' top finish of the day was senior Alex Jacobs (Dublin, Ohio-Dublin Jerome), who continued the momentum from his event win at last weekend's Spartan Invitational with a first-place effort in Knoxville, clearing 5.00m.

Senior Tyler Underwood (Clinton, Mich.-Clinton) carried on his season's impressive efforts Friday in both the 200m and 400m, claiming second and fourth place, respectively. He not only set a career-best 200m time, crossing the finish line in 21.01, but marked the top performance by a Mid-American Conference student-athlete this season, .2 seconds faster than any other effort seen this year.  Additionally, sophomore Owen Richardson (Basingstoke, England) and junior Terrell Posada (Naples, Fla.-Naples) competed in the 200m, crossing the finish line in 21.02 and 21.09, respectively, good for the second and third-best MAC performances seen in the 2019 campaign. Posada also collected a sixth-place finish in the 100m, crossing the finish line in 10.36.

Freshman Payne Wylie (Saskatchewan, Canada- Colonsay School) recorded two personal best performances, crushing his top collegiate efforts in both the 110m and 400m Hurdles. His 110m time of 14.47, good for 14th place, was  .21 seconds better than his previous career-best, while his 400m Hurdles effort of 54.88, good for 11th overall, was .11 seconds faster than the Saskatchewan, Canada product had run in his collegiate career.

Rounding out the day's performances were junior Sean Beckom II (Saginaw, Mich.-Heritage) and sophomore Solomon Costa (Gahanna, Ohio-Gahanna Lincoln), registering top collegiate efforts in the 100m and 3000m Steeplechase, respectively. Beckom II used a time of 10.68 to earn 22nd overall in the 100m, while Costa placed seventh in the Steeplechase competition with a time of 9:47.18.

EMU will spend one more day competing in Knoxville as Saturday's competitions scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Live results will be available here, while the event will be broadcast live on the Southeastern Conference Network+, beginning at 10:55 a.m. For specific updates on the Eagles throughout the day, visit the team's Twitter page @EMUMXC_TF.
