EMU: 2018-19: Outdoor: Competed in five races for the Green and White, running in the distance events…Earned Second Team All-MAC honors and his top finish of the season at the Mid-American Conference Championships, May 9-11, placing second in the 5000m with a time of 15:01…At the same meet, finished fifth in the 10,000m with his EMU-best time of 31:56.48…Recorded his top effort in the 1500m at the Raleigh Relays, March 29-30, running to a time of 3:50.43…Totaled five individual top-10 performances throughout the season, including a fourth-place effort in the 5000m at the Hillsdale “GINA” Relays, April 25-26, marking a time of 14:36.10…Closed out the regular season at the Len Paddock Open, May 3, with a 1500m run of 3:54.38, good for fifth place… Indoor: Earned First Team All-MAC honors for his performance at the Mid-American Conference Championships, Feb. 22-23, where he took home the individual championship in the 3000m, finishing with a time of 8:26.99… Also earned third and fourth place efforts in the mile and 5000m, respectively, earning marks of 4:13.68 and 14:49.55…Competed in six meets for the Eagles, running the mile, 3000m, and 5000m…Recorded his top mile performance at the GVSU Big Meet Friday, Feb. 8, finishing third with a time of 4:06.61 … In his debut in the Green and White, finished 17th in the 5000m with a career best time of 14:29.13… At the Meyo Invitational, Feb. 1-2, earned his personal best mark in the 3000m, finishing in 8:10.31 for third overall…Joined EMU as a graduate transfer from Boise State…BOISE STATE: Competed on the cross country and track and field teams for the Broncos…Set a career best of 3:50.61 in the 1,500m at the Mountain West Championships, May 9-12, while also setting a career-best 5000m time of 14:37.88…Marked a personal-best mile time of 4:11.08 at the UW Invitational, Jan. 26-27…HIGH SCHOOL: Started running 18 months before entering Boise State, training with the University of Toronto Track Club under the direction of Terry Radchenko and Gabe Johnston…During his first cross country season, placed 14th at OFSAA and 16th at Nationals representing Team Ontario…He recorded personal bests in the 1500m (3:49) and 800m (1:52)…PERSONAL: Full Name: Melika Ghali…Major: Master’s, Exercise physiology.
