Stevenson Leads the Way for EMU at Perry Park Spring Fling

PERRY PARK, Ky. (EMUEagles.com) -- Behind the solid play of junior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford), the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finished in third-place at the Perry Park Spring Fling with a 36-hole mark of 620 (308-312) on the the par 72 Buckskin-Whitetail Course at Perry Park Golf Resort, March 31. Stevenson posted the lowest two round tally of her career with a 152 (73-79) to claim a tie for fifth. The top-five showing was the first of her career in 17 events. Her previous-best finish came at the 2017 Kzoo Classic when she took 11th with a 236 (79-74-83).
The University of Findlay rallied to win the tournament with a 609 (311-298), as the University of Missouri-St. Louis (305-309=614), EMU (620), Tiffin University (315-318=633), and DePauw University (310-326=636) rounded out the top-five. McKendree University's Natasha Ainsley-Thomas and Tiffin's Amanda Johansson shared medalist honors with a six-over 150.
Behind Stevenson, sophomore Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) finished 19th with a 156 (80-76), while Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) added a 157 (78-79) for 21st. Senior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) notched an 158 (77-81) for 27th and senior Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) recorded an 167 (89-78) for 52nd.
Playing as an individual, Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-University of Tampa) tied for 21st with a two-day tally of 157 (75-82).
Eastern returns to action next at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, April 6-7, in Bowling Green, Ohio.
