DEKALB, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team heads to DeKalb, Ill. for the 2019 Mid-American Conference Championships, Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m. The Eagles finished fourth at last year's event, and look to bring the title back to Ypsilanti, last winning the conference championship in 2017. 
    EMU is coming off at season-best performance of 196.025 against Kent State University, March 15. The team looks to carry the momentum into the conference championships. 
    
FOLLOWING THE MEET: The action will be broadcast via ESPN3. The meet can also be followed via the live results link found on the schedule page of EMUEagles.com or by following the team's account, @EMUGym, on Twitter. 

LAST TIME OUT: Eastern closed out its season with a big Senior Night win over Kent State, 196.025-193.900, March 15. The Eagles' 196.025 marked their new season-best score, including posting 48.975 on bars, their season-high on the apparatus. 
    Sophomore Jada Rondeau posted a new personal-best all-around score of 39.275, for a first-place finish, as well as hitting a career-high beam score of 9.850, tying for first place. 
    Junior Emili Dobronics earned her second 9.900 of the season on floor, tying her career-high and claiming first place. 

BEZOLD ON BARS: Sophomore Cortney Bezold earned MAC Specialist of the Week for the second time this season, March 19. Bezold posted a 9.875 on bars for a first place finish against Kent State. 

LAST TIME AT MACs:  Last time around, the Green and White finished fourth at the MAC Championships with a score of 195.275, led by two former Eagles. Lacey Rubin and Kendall Valentin, both hitting scores of 9.900 on bars and beam , respectively. Rubin, now an assistant coach for Eastern Michigan, earned a spot on the MAC-All Tournament Team for her efforts. 

ALL-MAC HONORS: Eastern claimed two All-MAC awards, as sophomore Cortney Bezold earned First Team All-MAC honors, and junior Emili Dobronics snagged Second Team All-MAC. 
    Bezold has been one of the conference's best on bars this season, competing in all 11 of Eastern's meets and posting nine scores of 9.850-or-better. She earned her career-high of 9.9 at the George Washington Quad, Feb. 22, and has been selected as MAC Specialist of the Week twice this year. The Maineville, Ohio native currently holds a RQS of 9.850, the top in the conference. 
    Dobronics has competed in the all-around competition in all 11 meets this season for the Green and White, and has earned 17 scores of 9.8-or-higher. The Orland Park, Ill. native tied her career-best score of 9.00 on floor twice this season, at the George Washington Quad, Feb. 22, and versus Kent State, March 15. This is the juniors second All-MAC selection. 

LOOKING AHEAD:  Following the MAC Championships, EMU will wait to see if any individual student-athletes will earn bids to the NCAA Regional Championship. Outside of teams who qualify to the regional championship, four all-around competitors and two individual specialists per event will also earn the nod to participate.
