LAST TIME OUT: EMU saw its lowest score of the season in the loss to Central Michigan University, putting up 192.750 to CMU's 195.050. The Chippewas currently lead the MAC with a 3-0 league record, while the Eagles hold onto the third spot with a 2-2 MAC record.
Junior Emili Dobronics posted the highest score of the day for Eastern, a 9.875 on floor, followed by sophomore Jada Rondeau's 9.800.
An invariable piece of the Green and White's lineup Feb. 15, was senior Megan Hultgren scoring a pair of 9.775s on vault and beam.
Freshman Shannon Gregory contributed a 9.750 on floor, while sophomore Cortney Bezold earned a 9.775 on bars.
IN RECENT HISTORY: The Eagles go into the George Washington Triangular with inverse records against the two opponents, holding a 2-0 record when taking on Towson, and a 0-2 tally against George Washington.
Eastern last saw Towson during the 2017 season, in a dual at the Convocation Center where EMU walked away with the win, 196.00-193.075. The meet was highlighted by former Eagle Kendall Valentin's 9.925 routine on bars, helping the Green and White reach a program-record score on the event (49.250), and notching 196 for the first time of the season.
Later in the 2017 season, Eastern Michigan fell in a close meet to George Washington, 196.375-196.225. Then-junior Ciara Gresham led the way, earning a personal-best on vault (9.875), and hitting 9.825 on floor. It was the first time in program history a gymnast scored 9.950 on bars (Valentin), and the second time during the season the team reached 196.000-or-better.
VALUABLE VAULT: Vault has been the most consistent event for EMU this season, with scores between 48.420, and the season-high 48.850. Senior Allie Smith earned the highest score of the season so far on the apparatus, a 9.875. The Eagles are ranked 41st by the NCAA in vault, its highest ranking of any event.
BREAKING DOWN BARRIERS: Eastern Michigan has yet to break the 9.9 mark this year. The Green and White have reached 9.875 seven times this season. Three of those times were on beam by senior Megan Hultgren, junior Emili Dobronics, and freshman Caitlin Satler.
Last season, Eastern reached 9.9-or-better six times, with the first not coming until the eighth meet of the season against Kent State University. That score came from Dobronics on floor. The Orland Park, Ill. native is the only current member of the team to earn a 9.9-or-better in her career.
LOOKING AHEAD: Eastern Michigan returns home to the Convocation Center Friday, March 1, in a matchup against Michigan State University at 6 p.m. EMU will look to even the score after last season's 195.525-194.950 loss. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN3, and live results will be available through EMUEagles.com
