The pair become the first Eagles to win the honor since 2017

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) - Two members of the Eastern Michigan University soccer team were selected by the Mid-American Conference head coaches as MAC Player of the Week, the league announced, Nov. 3. Redshirt junior Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street) was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week, while junior Haley Tausend (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) was tabbed MAC Defensive Player of the Week.

This is the first MAC Player of the Week honor for soccer since Kaylin Williams, Oct. 24, 2017. Additionally, the pair sweep Player of the Week honors for EMU for the first time since Nov. 4, 2013, when Angela Vultaggio was named Offensive Player of the Week and Marisa Kozikowski was named Defensive Player of the Week.

McNeill was the momentum-changer for the EMU in Thursday's 3-1 win over Central Michigan. Finding the back of the net in the 27th minute, McNeill scored the equalizer for Eastern to open the scoring for the Eagles that afternoon. Her goal brings her to six on the season, which ties the team lead and is tied for seventh in the MAC. Additionally, McNeill leads EMU with 26 shots on goal, which is good for eighth in the MAC.

Tausend played a crucial role in the Eagles' 3-1 win over Central Michigan to secure their spot in the MAC tournament. Tausend scored the game-winning goal in the 37th minute, helping EMU complete the come-from-behind win. Tausend played all 90 minutes on the back line to help lead the Eagles to the win.

Eastern Michigan begins MAC Tournament play today, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. against Ball State at Briner Sports Complex.
