Shira Selected as United Soccer Coaches Player of the Week

The junior led Eastern to two MAC wins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (EMUEagles.com) - United Soccer Coaches announced that Eastern Michigan University soccer player Lindsey Shira (New Baltimore, Mich.-Anchor Bay) was named the Division I Women's Player of the Week, Oct. 8.

The junior had a career weekend, helping Eastern Michigan claim two conference wins over Northern Illinois, Oct. 4, and Western Michigan, Oct. 6. The defender accounted for half of the Eagles' six goals during the two matchups. Shira scored the game-winning goal in both contests, recording a 70th-minute goal against the Huskies and 83rd-minute goal against the Broncos to seal the wins. Over the weekend, Shira set a new career-high in goals scored in a game (2) and points in season (9), while also playing the entirety of both matches.

The Green and White continue the MAC portion of their schedule at Toledo, Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
