LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (EMUEagles.com) – Junior Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) fired a second round 65 rounds to lead the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team at the Little Rock/First Tee Classic Monday, Oct. 21. Collin's 65 is tied for the eighth-lowest round in program history and the best since Tyler Lewis carded a 64 at the Loyola Intercollegiate, Feb. 26, 2018.
The Eagles moved up five spots from the first round to finish the day atop the leaderboard with a 36-hole mark of 577 (291-286). Oral Roberts and host Little Rock are just one shot back while Campbell (579) and Middle Tennessee State (579) round out the top-five.
Collins is tied for third-place overall with a 141 (76-65), six strokes back of Campbell's Max Theodorakis (69-66=135). Redshirt sophomore Zack Mason (Toronto, Ontario, Canada-Blyth Academy Lawrence Park) also resides inside the top-10 with back-to-back rounds of 71 for a two-under 142 (71-71). Junior Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) and freshman Luke Pelak (Mattawan, Mich.-Mattawan) are tied for 25th with a 147. Senior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) finished up the team's scoring with a 159 (78-81) in a tie for 80th.
Eastern Michigan returns to the Chenal Country Club - Bear Den course Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 8:15 a.m. CT.
