AKRON, Ohio & BUFFALO, N.Y. (EMUEagles.com) - Eastern Michigan University's soccer team hits the road for the second weekend of Mid-American Conference play Friday-Sunday, Sept. 28-30. EMU (6-5-0, 1-1-0 MAC) gets week two of league action underway with a 7 p.m. bout at the University of Akron Friday, Sept. 28, before a 12 p.m. tilt against the University at Buffalo Sunday, Sept. 30.
Like their opponents, the Eagles hold a 1-1 MAC mark. EMU blanked Kent State, 2-0, before falling short against Ohio, 2-1. Meanwhile, Akron and Buffalo split matches against Northern Illinois and Western Michigan over the weekend.
Links for live stats can be found on the soccer schedule page of EMUEagles.com. Additionally, the action will be live tweeted from the team's account, @EMUSoccer.
NO ONE HAS PLAYED MORE: Playing wire-to-wire in EMU's MAC opener against Kent State, Sept. 21, senior goalkeeper Kaylin Williams moved into the top spot for career minutes in the EMU record books. Over the course of her four-year career, Williams has spent 5831 minutes between the posts.
STARTIN' WITH A SHUTOUT: EMU's 2-0 victory over Kent State, Sept. 21, gave the Green and White its first MAC-opening win since 2014. Additionally, it was the Eagles' first win over the Golden Flashes since EMU bested KSU, 2-nil, in 2013.
WHAT'S BETTER THAN ONE? ...TWO: Kristin Nason found the back of the net twice in Eastern Michigan's 2-0 shutout of Kent State, Sept. 21, marking the third multi-goal game of her career. Nason is just the 11th Eagle in program history to score multiple goals in a match more than once.
CHASIN' 300: Kaylin Williams has been a consistent fixture between the posts for the Eagles since the 2015 season, so it comes as no surprise that she is on the verge of yet another milestone. Williams stands just two saves short of the 300 mark heading into the weekend. Should she eclipse the 300-stop plateau, Williams will be just the fourth Eagle to do so and the first since Maggie Manville pushed her career total to 315 in 2011.
WELCOME TO THE CLUB, NASON!: With three goals over the opening weekend of Mid-American Conference play, Krsitin Nason became the first Eagle to reach the 30-point mark since 2014 and just the 19th player overall.
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Michigan owns a 22-10-8 record against this weekend's competition all-time, holding the upperhand in each series.
The Eagles hold a commanding 12-3-2 lead in the all-time series against Akron and has won three consecutive meetings. Most recently, EMU knocked off UA, 2-1, Oct. 1, 2017 at Scicluna Field. Akron struck first, but second-half goals by Kristin Nason and Parys Kerr lifted the Eagles to the win.
Eastern Michigan's record against Buffalo sits at 10-7-6 in 23 all-time meetings. The Green and White is in search of its first win over the Bulls since the 2012 campaign, having gone 0-3-2 in five matches since. Bianca Rossi scored with 15 minutes to play to break the scoreless tie, while Megan McCabe made six saves to lead the Eagles to a 1-nil victory, Oct. 19, 2012.
WHEN SEPTEMBER ENDS: Eastern Michigan has compiled a 4-2-0 record in the month of September. With two games yet to be played this month, Eastern is on the verge of posting a winning record in the ninth month of the year for the first time since 2014. That year, EMU turned in a 4-1-0 record in September.
MAKIN' MOVES: Redshirt sophomore Sabrina McNeill continued to climb EMU's career points ladder with EMU's game-winning goal against UConn, Sept. 14. McNeill currently sits tied for 22nd-most in EMU history with 26 points and is tied for 21st with Katie Lozar. EMU E-Club Hall of Famer Jessica Hupe holds the program standard with 117 points.
KAYLIN'S CLIMB: Senior netminder Kaylin Williams has proven to be one of the top keepers to come through Ypsilanti. Learning from former EMU standout Megan McCabe as a freshman and continuing to benefit from the tutelage of Dan Diac, Williams has created quite a legacy. With 53 saves to her credit this season, the Kansas City, Mo. native has racked up 298 for her career. She currently ranks fourth in EMU laurels, and trails Nikki Allen's third-ranked mark by 14.
A PERFECT 10: Kristin Nason netted the 10th goal of her career with a game-winning strike against Detroit Mercy Friday, Aug. 24. Nason, the active team leader in goals scored, notched seven as a redshirt freshman in 2015, two last season, and now has five this season. She currently ranks 15th all-time in EMU laurels with 14 goals.
3...2...1...#MACTION: Eastern Michigan is in its 21st season competing as a member of the Mid-American Conference. The Eagles have compiled a 112-71-25 record in league play and are looking to claim their fourth MAC title, and first since 2013. Eastern was the 1999, 2003, and 2013 MAC Regular Season Champion.
ON THE HORIZON: EMU returns home for a Thursday, Oct. 4 tilt against Toledo. Kickoff from Scicluna Field is slated for 4 p.m. From there, the Eagles make the jaunt down to the Buckeye State for a bout with Bowling Green Saturday, Oct. 6, at 1 p.m.
