Meyers Claims MAC Weekly Honors For the Second Time This Season, Career

Each week two Eagles will be honored for their success on the field

CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University cross country senior Sydney Meyers (Zionsville, Ind.-Zionsville) was named the Mid-American Conference Runner of the Week the league office announced, Sept. 25. This is the second time in two races that Meyers, a co-captain of the EMU squad, has earned the weekly distinction.

Meyers paced the Eagles with a fourth-place finish out of over 200 participants at the Battle In Beantown Friday, Sept. 21 in Jamaica Plain, Mass. Meyers clocked in at 17:18.9, finishing just two seconds behind the second and third-place harriers, and nine seconds behind the individual champion. This is the second consecutive meet Meyers has led EMU, after claiming the individual title at the George Dales Invitational, Sept. 7. Moreover, her performance helped propel Eastern to a 10th-place team finish, ending with a team score of 204 points and edging out No. 11-ranked Providence College.

Meyers and the Eagles have another tough competition Friday, Sept. 28, as they take on some of the best talent in the nation at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
