LAKE FOREST, Ill. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team concluded day one at the 22nd Annual Windon Memorial Classic in 13th-place Sunday, Sept. 23, at the par-72, 7,202-yard Knollwood Club Golf Course. Sophomore Ty Celone (Long Sault, Ontario, Canada-St Joseph's Catholic) continued his strong start to the season with a 146 (71-75) to sit in a tie for 27th-place.
Michigan State holds a seven stroke advantage on the leaderboard headed into the final round, as the Spartans fired a nine-under 567 (281-286). UCLA is in second place with a 574 followed by Northern Illinois (575), Marquette (576), and Memphis (579).
Sophomore Cougar Collins (Caledon, Ontario, Canada-Mayfield Secondary) added a 147 (69-78) while senior Beau Breault (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland) and junior Zach Sudinsky (McKinney, Texas-Boyd-Stephen F. Austin) are tied for 55th with a 151. Rounding out the lineup, sophomore Tyler Rayman (Ostego, Mich.-Ostego) notched a 159 (78-81) for an 81st-place tie.
Individually, UC Davis' Thomas Hutchison sits on top of the leader board with following a seven-under 137 (64-73). His first-round 64, is tied for the third-best single-round score in Windon's 22-year history.
